The Get Well Bahamas challengers were educated on February 7, 2012 at its biweekly educational sessions on healthy eating tips and strategies which focused on the consumption of fruits and vegetables.
The National Prescription Drug Plan launched phase three of the Get Well Bahamas Health and Fitness challenge on Monday January 30, 2012 at Worker’s House.

Seven new groups of Bahamians, including public officers, can now apply to reap the benefits of the National Prescription Drug Plan (NPDP) administered by the National Insurance Board.
Get Well Challenge Off To a Great Start: 280+ pounds lost in first two weeks
At their first weigh-in forty participants in the National Insurance Board’s Get Well Bahamas Health and Fitness Challenge, lost a total of 289.7 pounds in the first two weeks of the programme. This represents 2.37 percent of their total starting weigh, setting them well on the road to improved health.
It has become a matter of concern for the government that one in three Bahamians suffers from one or more chronic diseases, such as hypertension, ischaemic heart disease and diabetes, Minister of Health The Hon. Dr. Hubert Minnis said Monday night at the launch of The Get Well Bahamas Health and Fitness Challenge held at Worker’s House.
THREE RECEIVE NIB DIRECTOR’S AWARD 2011
Three employees of the National Insurance Board recently received the NIB Director’s Award in recognition of their outstanding contributions to the progress and success of the organization in 2010. Patrick Ward, Chairman of NIB and Algernon Cargill, Director of NIB presented the Director’s Award to Pandora Butler, Public Relations Officer, Gregory Collie, Senior Manager of Compliance and Tami Francis, Manager of the National Prescription Drug Plan, during NIB’s recent Leadership Conference.
Cargill: Drug Plan claims averaging 400 per week, Pharmacies pleased with on-time payments
Algernon Cargill, Director of NIB told members of the Rotary Club of Nassau this week that that Phase I of the National Prescription Drug Plan has been going very well and he believes NIB will be able to launch Phase II of the Plan earlier than expected next year because of the success of Phase I.
HISTORIC NATIONAL PRESCRIPTION DRUG PLAN OFFICIALLY LAUNCHED
In an historic moment for healthcare in The Bahamas the National Prescription Drug Plan was launched on Monday (Sept. 20) at Lowe’s Pharmacy, Soldier Road with the first swipe of an Ace Prescription Card by pharmacist Rosita Smith on behalf of 12 year old beneficiary Jonathan Wilson. Declaring the plan officially launched Minister of Health the Hon. Dr. Hubert Minnis said the Plan would eliminate the long waiting lines at PMH and public clinics.
